 “Lets Cut It Out Together”

Sara has decided that this charity needs exposure to the greater public. This local charity has a long reach, it can through modern technology, help individuals, Male or Female enduring abuse of all kinds. This can take the form of Physical, Verbal, Social and even Cyber Bullying.

This charity focuses on one of the most penicious forms Domestic Abuse. Sara has agreed with the founder Samantha Billingham, who herself endured this obnoxious and degrading type of abuse. She showed strength of character and resisted and extracted herself and her child from that abusive relationship. You can too with the help of SODA.

In the video below Samantha tells of her own bitter experience and her current desire to assist others who are still in these types of relationships to take back control of their life and live again, without fear.

The Hair Master and SODA have joined together in the “Lets Cut It Out Together” Campaign where hair stylists form a route out of these terrible demoralising situations and start speaking and seeking support for the clientele of the Salon.

To ALL caring Hair Stylists, Barbers and Beauty Professionals out there, who like Sara, feel strongly about this and want to support these victims of abuse. You Can inform them that there is help out there, with SODA being sympathetic to the suffering of Domestic Abuse. Sara wants to play her part in sign posting a way to positive and constructive help.

SODA – Survivors Of Domestic Abuse

From an early age I knew that I wanted my own office. I was always using my mum’s coffee table as a desk, scribbling on a piece of paper with my pen and making calls on my invisible phone.

At 8 years old I had an electric typewriter for Christmas and learned how to type. At 14 years old, alongside high school I enrolled on an accredited typing course and it was on this course I decided I wanted to become a Legal Secretary. At 19 years old, after completing my 3 year course, I got my first job as a Legal Secretary. I finally got my own office.

When I met my ex perpetrator I was working at a small firm of solicitors. I loved my job, it gave me a sense of belonging and direction.

He didn’t love me going to work at all, so much so he locked me in the flat, throwing my mobile phone out of the 7th floor window. When I managed to get free, the first place I went was to my workplace where I was sacked on the spot.

In November 2006 he slapped me for the last time as I held our 10 month old daughter in my arms.

In May 2009 SODA was set up as a Facebook support group to raise awareness, reduce isolation and to support others. SODA offers emotional and practical support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
