Aftercare and You

Your Maintenance Routine

Aftercare:

Part of the professional service I provide is advising on suitable aftercare advice to you after you have had your hair treatments. This is important to ensure you are able to re-create and maintain the look I have created for you in the best possible way.

Colour Aftercare:

To successfully maintain your NEW colour, there’s no room for sloppy hair care.
Following a basic conditioning & cleansing routine is the first step towards having a flawless colour. It is essential to protect the colour.

  • After colouring, wait a full 72 hrs before shampooing
  • Use colour pigmented hair mask to refresh your colour.
  • Use luke warm water temperature when cleansing your hair.
  • Wash hair less often -use dry shampoo
  • Use leave-in treatments to protect hair colour when styling – Heat protectant sprays/serums.
  • Ensure you’re using shampoo and conditioner products that are formulated for colour-treated hair & are ideally sulphate free.
  • Ensure you double cleanse the hair by shampooing twice.

General Aftercare Advice:

Ensure conditioner application is only on the mid lengths & ends of the hair – avoid putting product on the root area and areas where extensions are attached, making sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid any build-up. After washing, avoid rolling or rubbing the hair, instead gently squeeze out the excess water and pat dry with a towel.

Shampoo

To Minimise breakage, apply a thermal Protection conditioning Spray or Serum after washing your hair & apply this prior to combing out. Tackle small sections of the hair working from the ends up to the root with a wide tooth comb. Mid to long Length Hair is best kept loosely tied up when sleeping to avoid unnecessary tangling.

Regular visits to the Hair Master to ensure your cut &/or colour is maintained and your hair remains in a good healthy condition.

To ensure the best chances of recreating the style, use the same products and tools as the stylist. This may mean changing the types of your combs/brushes or using different brands of styling products. All of which are available to buy from The Hair Master!

Why does your hair look better after a few days compared to the day it was done?

Almost every haircut or colour needs a few days to settle down.

If you just had trim, your hair will look great almost the next day. But, if you went for a restyle or drastic hairstyle/colour change, your hair will appear better a little later.

Don’t forget that you need to get used to your new haircut, not just visually. You will also need to learn how to style and manage it…Time is the key!

                      • When you have difficulty styling your hair
